the A and the X

August 21, 2006

its been awhile since music has graced these pages. so i thought i shall put in my two cents worth on what is rocking my itunes and mini.

the A
au revoir simone. three girls with three keyboards. hailing from brooklyn new york, au revoir simone is a three piece outing with nothing but keyboards in their hands. looks do play an important part in the music industry and they are three not bad looking girls. their music is plain electronic, with beats imbedded into light melodies that somehow, though very basic and raw, emits this sense that makes the listener intrigued. they are certainly not craving, hungry for the all important recognition that buys them the clothes they need. they are serious players who take music into their little black book and produces quality tunes. how oft do you get three girls that do nothing for your eyes cos they are mostly behind their keyboards but do so much for your ears. its just a pure pleasure to take a listen to.

the X
as in Xtina. from the lilth that is au revoir simone to the huge that is xtina. now xtina has endured alot since her mickey mouse days and her dirrty days. she has certainly stood the test a young singer can take in a dog-eat-dog pop music world. now she is back with her third effort, back to basics. this much hyped about album somehow got too much hype. yup, we know she is back and back to basics. she has made it clear in her first single ain’t no other man. which was a fresh take on 40’s-esque inspired tunes, with its heavy beats and trumpet blowers. but then comes the album itself. this album does not make the listener go wow! it somehow makes the listener feel displaced. now i am not dissing xtina. in fact i respect her for being a credible lyricist. and the album embraces a new form of music that is really basic but not heard of often. she has brought back from the dead, a genre that is to its core a beautiful genre of music. you just have to listen to it yourself.

we all get drunk once in awhile. the influence of alcohol is all but the sole reason for it. and with the company of great people and somewhat great music. you’ll get intoxicated souls that blabber non-stop and later admits to having a serious case of verbal vomit. this intoxication does not end till you have stepped into home and finally set your body down and onto the bed that is so familiar.

the aftermath is what sets you thinking. what have i done or said that could possibly or ultimately be life-changing. or the thought of what the others might think of you. then it kind of sets in that being drunk is only something that happens once in a while. not overdosing on it is key.

there was suppose to be a picture, i hope it will come up.

i feel like this post is all garb. but we all have our offdays.

garb, fixate and celluloid, i am waiting.

the bare essentials

minimalism. the word is that, that is the word. this is starting to sound all weird and kind of out of this world. but let me assert that i am using one of the world’s most minimalistic computer systems in the world. that is the apple powerbook, with thanks in part to the sister that has flown a few hundred miles back into the mother land. somehow my “trusty” labtop has decided to be all slow in motion (i.e. lagging in parts) hence the usuage of the sister’s sleek apple powerbook.

the point being, not to brag. but how attached i have become to the portable computer. its reliability has never failed me ‘cept during the few occasions where it only happens in bouts. today however, i would catergorize its bout into, full-on rebellion. everything took a few minutes to load, everything was moving at a speed the turtle would be proud of. then the frustration mounts within the cavity of my body. then the prompter that is the trustworthy windows xp says that my computer is “virtually low on memory”.

this lead to me deleting redundant files that i thought were not worthy enough for my labtop. now, i think i have a problem with letting go. just like how avril lavigne tells us in her first album to just, let go. ya, its easier said than done. you could say i have created for myself a backlog of files that i should have attended to and in the long run, delete them. but i just can’t let go of old episodes of grey’s anatomy and weeds. i would like to think that i would one day harken back to these files. watch them and appreciate that i did not delete them.

so i deleted some files which took almost an hour to do. but things were still the same.

ming let go.

slowly but steady the foundations are being built. the end result is still unclear.

you shout when there is a problem to be solved.

something old, new and borrowed. let us talk about the new first. brazilian girls are gonna come back with their sophomore album called “talk to la bomb” on sept 12. thanks ham da informer for informing me of such an important information. and i must say i am excited beyond words. their first album was such a fresh reprieve from the very saturated music world that alot is expected from this album. besides this album coming out on the 12th of sept, charlotte martin’s stromata is also gonna be out. oooh looks like september is shaping out to be the month of great new music.

something old. distance is such a killer. so much so that once distance is in place and the person is too far gone, there is no way you can get the person back. but then again efforts were not in place to bridge the distance.

the borrrowed. testing the waters to see whether a sound borrowed idea can emerge from it. apart of me is saying do not rush into this, but apart of me just wants to rush into this like an “angry patchy cat”.

the abrupt nature of things. thats the downside of life in our so called life. you expect something to actually go your way but it does not. the blogger is giving problems that i hope would not escalate.

the lack of sleep and the help that is coffee beans are slowly wearing off and disintegrating into the night. then it comes to a point where mind-fuck is not even possible. your mind is so saturated with these ideas that you wish you could express them. and when you get the chance to actually express them, you do not like what you’ve said.

its back to structured writing you know, writing that is coherent and full of content that applause is plausible. there is that certain doubt that veering off track is an imminent option knowing as to how each other works. but at the end of the day, its the fact that we know each other, that we should go ahead at thi, with full steam.

the movie that was watched is in short, an incredulous fairytale. with a whole lot of detail injected to protray it in the modern day. but i liked it anyhow. somehow it does intrigue to the point of wanting to know the ending.

you stamp the news that might have potential disaster, and sent it anyway. was it carefully sought out? the answer, i guess are deep in trenches. the repercussions are yet to be found out.
a clear spearhead in sight? not this time i think.

beating around the good ol’ bush, that is my hobby. that is what makes me a person. not able to get straight to the point. oh well.

viva indifference!
