the dull dull thud

September 26, 2006

rest. is the most important part of someone’s life. we all need rest. be it just a short 20 minutes nap is suffice to keep the body moving throughout the day.

so what happpens when your body is lacking of rest, u fall ill. duh!

in the clear by ivy is one sublime album. this album has a smooth flow of guitars and ambient sounds. you do not know whether or not go groove or just rock out. i think it is a fine balance of both. and how apt of them to represent the album with just a plane window in mid-air. because that is exactly what you get.

back to them indieroots!

delving into the vault of very underrated great movies once again. and i found this movie, gosford park.

now i’ve heard alot about this movie. i think somehwhere in 2005-4? it was one of the least celebrated movies at the oscars that year simply because i think it was overshadowed by greater big movies like the hours and chicago. i never got to watching it until the time permitted me to.

this movie and the era its suppose to be set in was just perfect. picture this. a group of 1930s socialites of old london gathers at the house of gosford for a shooting party. there’s the head of the house, his wives, his daugther, his business partners and his sister. there is also the hollywood producer, hollywood star and the maids, butlers and servants.

hierachies are abound and very present in this movie. what goes on above, i.e the dinner seating, the after dinner gatherings, goes on below. in the chambers of the servers, butlers and maids. its all intricately woven into is one house, gosford park.

as the stories unfold, scandals are revealed. gossips are rife. till suddenly the head of the house gets murdered.

its murder mystery at its best with a great cast!

watch it.

decay, pure degradation

bright bright the light shines. bursting through! and slowly allowing itself to make clear its stand.

to have to shake your head in disappoint is a grave sin whereby once convicted, there is no saving.

birthday celebrations were alright in the right state of mind. not my birthday celebrations though. my dear fren, jess.

here is me doing a sam!

HAPPY 20TH JESS DEAR!!

okay not exactly.

boob boob

September 13, 2006

like a little infant with little vocabulary and a milk bottle in hand. the mom slowly soothes her child by cradling him within her arms and he utters “boob, boob”. his first words brings tears to her eyes. oh his innocence! is purity at its best light!

okay back to business at hand. thanks to zuz i have finally gotten my hands on talk to la bomb. brazilian girls’ follow up to their self-titled album.

this album i must say, is a breath of fresh air. its quirky, experimental and oh so chic at parts. let me explain. quirky cos its lyrics are better the last one. songs like sweatshop talks about chinese people cooped up in factories and being made to work in bulks. i especially like it when lead singer coos “shifu shifu” towards the end of the song. ace! other quirky songs includes tourist trap and le territoire. experimental because with this record they experimented with more instruments like drums and some sticks. there is more rhythm to this record than the last one. lastly, the oh-so-chic factor of this album is still present, songs like all about us and last call drums up images of runway fashion shows.

great album and great follow up!

now i am late.

fixate and celluloid on garb and indiemind.

let the war begin! with reference to the title of course. guys! when are we gonna get it started.

anyways, nylonguys has decided to allow P.Diddy to grace their fall 2006 issue. which completely surprised the living jesus out of me! okay, not to that extent of course. but it did certainly raise a few gasps and a few more raised eyebrows. has nylonguy decided to go to the bling side? you know what they say: “once you go bling u can’t go back”. okay now that was weak.

this notion stayed in my mind until i got my hands on nylonguy itself and read the editor’s note. they felt that by P.Diddy being on their cover shows how far nylonguy has come. and it is FAR! from peeps like adam brody, jared leto, jonathan rhys meyers to P.Diddy. now that is far. but this nylonguy issue is shaping up to be a good one. they just outdo themselves each and everytime. so bravo to the nylonguy team.

incoherent is the new fad.

i feel the hum of a pregnant bird, pregnant with hope that the wings it posseses, somehow takes her away and allows her to drop her unwanted offspring onto barren land, springless in the spring, parched and dry in the winter and midly bland in the summer.

suddenly epiphanies do not work. the sudden strike! the astounding, astute, somewhat assinine pouring of acid into the brain saturates leaving the oozing breathless, dissolving shouting, “HELP THY!”. cliche much?

huge screens, blown up people like dollies in a dim sum pot, weak reference to a weak inference to the equation that mad scientists are in truth mad. passion works, the mundanity the deep trench turn into a minor recess on the ground. spins spins itself back into a trench before the friar comes back in and saves the shakespearean theologist who imparts the skill so out of mind! so redundant.

hush hush! the sweet taste of notes licking the ears playfully, coyly so effortless so sly. seduction of the temporary tempest is reducing the core to its bitter end then reaching in, pulling the guts out. yes you pray we all pray! does guilt have to seep into our hands and breach our braincells thus causing brainwash?

“lethargy breeds madness, lethargy breeds madness” soothing the voice is, says the friar. oh the betrayal!

incoherent is the new fad.
